The Washington Post offers advice on what to do when you have an outstanding order with a furniture company that goes bankrupt. Sadly, many local businesses have filed for bankruptcy this year and consumers are often the last to get their money back for unfilled orders. The Post recommends paying for furniture with a credit card so that the bank will help you dispute charges for unreceived goods. More tips below the jump...
Keep documents of every step of your furniture transaction, like original contracts and receipts. Send written requests for your deposit refund to the furniture company (or to the entity appointed by the bankruptcy court) by registered mail with return-receipt requested.
