Ikea Plate Turned Modern Art

johns-AT-plate.jpg

ATDC reader dcexplorer (who brought us the Creative Ceiling Light Makeover and the DIY Bohemian Art Panel) has another fun project to share; he turned a plain 99 cent glass plate from Ikea into modern art...

More details of this project are posted over on dcexplorer's website My Interior Designs, along with some of his other DIY projects.

Thanks again dcexplorer for sharing your creativity with us. We welcome email from other readers who have fun projects to share; drop us a line at dc@apartmenttherapy.com and we'll post for our readers.

really great idea. don't really get the @ sign on it, but many possibilities for it.

Very cool! This could be done with pretty much any glass/plastic/acrylic object too.

not trying to be cranky here, but i do appreciate how the DIYer refers to it as "decor" rather than "modern art"... not sure it classifies as the latter (although, admittedly, i'm at a loss for criteria... but to see a painted plate with a decal this under the same moniker as a rothko painting... hmm.)...

Isn't this derivative of a grade school Mother's Day project somehow?

I like it. He's a lot more creative than I am.

It's cute. Art at AT is a relative term.
