The Washington Post Magazine 2009 Spring Home & Design Issue features the Maryland house of designer Darryl Savage. He bought the house from his parents and completely redid the decor in black and white. The effect is bold, clean, and gorgeously inspired. After drooling through the slideshow, we searched for even more beautiful rooms decorated in black and white. See our striking finds below the jump...

Shown above: the Modium kitchen by KicheConcept via Trendir; the bathroom in Lena Proudlock's restored Jacobean house in Gloucester, England; and Cactus wall bookcases from the Italian company Compar. Below are living room furniture from Fritz Hansen and a Black and White Balanced bedroom from LivingEtc.

Do you think you'd get tired of only black and white? What if Aunt Judy buys you a red doo-dad?
Anyway, I love the duvet cover, too.

Does anyone know where the bedding is from?

I have black and white in my house and everyone is always trying to get me to add in color. My pets are even white! I think that bedding look Dwell-ish.

The overall style is not me and I'd need color too, a lot more color, say bursts of red or yellow or bright shades of blue, or all three perhaps to add life to what to me feels a bit stuffy-ish.
I mean, the he even has a dept store manniquin dressed in a suit and tie (not that, that's a bad thing but still as a piece of decor, not so much).
Just black and white is a tad too stark.

I am redoing my boring beige tiled bathoom in a black and white theme...the tile unfortunately has to stay but instead of adding red like i've been doing, everything is going black and white to play off the black granite counters (which are AWFUL for a bathroom sink btw, don't ever do it!)

The bedding is the Foxglove Duvet from Habitat. I've been trying to figure out a way to make it mine for ages now.

Ahhh... that explains why they have the duvet cover askew like that. It is sized for Europe and doesn't actually fit the bed properly.

We've had a bed like this without a headboard now for two years and it's always bothered me. The bed just doesn't feel "anchored" without it, even a low one. This photo accentuates the problem by hanging the John Lennon art work too high, too. We finally caved today and bought a low style bed at the High Point Furniture Market for below wholesale cost. (Anyone who lives on the east coast should drive down next weekend to buy market samples--- you'll walk away with steals since the economy is sooo bad and they market vendors have been really hurting).

Yeah, I coveted the Foxglove bedding when it appeared in a previous posting at AT. But, it is 200cm x 200cm and doesn't fit any US sized comforters! And I love my king sized silk floss comforter. How I wish it this bedding was available in US sizes and stores.

Every time I see black and white print in stores I want to throw out my eclectic collection of color, but then realize that I want ALL the patterns, and it would result in a disaster. The commitment to stick to the B&W theme is too hard for someone like me who has to paint every piece of furniture she owns.
