Indoor Bathtub Hammock: Outdoor Relaxation Inside

BathtubHammock.jpg

We have always been a fan of hammocks and the automatic sense of relaxation that they provide to any outdoor space. We have also long believed in the power of a soothing bubble bath to wash away the stresses of everyday life. It comes as no surprise therefore that we love this design concept for an indoor bathtub hammock...

This concept bathtub by Little Wonder is made of soft polyurethane, and is designed to hug the contours of the body. The tub is suspended between two stainless steel poles that house the water supply, and allow for towel and soap storage.

We have no information on when or if this Australian design firm will move the bathtub hammock from the purely conceptual to production, but we sure can dream...

That would be super cozy in a nice big open bathroom with a wonderful view of the mountains. Mmm!

Crazy! I'd try it, but I wonder about how sanitary a soft flexi surface would be able to be. If they have a grip on all the pragmatic issues (like would it hold the weight of a person and all that water, for instance) I'd be interested...

The plumbing industry used to make a product called a soft bathtub. It was made out of a coated foam. I'm not sure why it didn't catch on, it was on the market for a few years, but I'm sure there was a reason.

This might be a silly question.... but how do you get out of it again without covering your whole bathroom floor with a tub full of water?

My experiences with hammocks leave many memories of VERY ungraceful dismounts. If getting out of a hammock NOT full of water is hard, what of one that IS?

ankhsenamen,
I'm pretty sure this bathtub drains like a normal one through that short metal pipe in the middle. If not, I have to agree that flood potential is high!

Yeah, I guess you would have to wait for almost all the water to drain out before trying to get out. It would be worth it for a nice rockin' long bath. (I assume this wouldn't be a good idea for children....what a mess!)
