Style With a Cause: A Peek into the 2009 DC Design House

This week some of DC's most talented interior designers will be chosen to participate in the 2009 DC Design House benefiting the Children's National Medical Center. The location, Georgetown's St. John's Episcopal Church Rectory (built in the mid19th century), has all the makings of a masterpiece: 3 floors of huge windows, soaring ceilings, outstanding architectural details, and — as if that wasn't good enough — fireplaces in nearly every room. What it doesn't have is furniture. We can't wait to see how DC's designers dress up these good bare bones. Washington Spaces has a sneak peek into a few rooms in all their empty elegance, and here are our favorites...

Designers will have just over a month to bring the 16 spaces of this gorgeous home to life before opening the doors to the public from April 18-May 10. For more information about this year's Design House, its support of Children's National Medical Center, and a look at the 2008 DC Design House visit their website, www.dcdesignhouse.com. Be sure to check out the unveiling here at ATDC in April. Via: Washington Spaces.

looking forward to this. was it last year, or the year before, that Kelly Proxmire designed a gentleman's bedroom that had black walls. it was stunning, comfortable, and used her great trick of putting the flat screen TV inside the canopy bed. I sat down in one of the lovely chairs she put in there and didn't want to leave.
