I love the space either way, as you have a very nice sense of items to use in your home. It doesn't overwhelm the small space and always looks classy. But I really really loved the dark walls!

Me likes the lil couch, black door, rug (is it brown or grey?), and the casual sophistication. I think it just needs more colorful art, like that blue canvas instead of what is behind the bed.

I too preferred the dark walls - so much more uncommon and elegant.

Those karate-chopped pillows...the ones which, instead of being fluffed are whacked on top to create Where-the-Wild-Things-Are ears? Their time has come and gone, in my opinion. Let's all agree to stop doing that, OK?

wow, when i saw the pictures, I actually thought of the previous house tours for this place before I read that it is the same one.

aesthetically I like the dark walls more but realistically I would probably find it easier to live with the white walls. Having lived in a studio for 5 years, I value a less dramatic sleek simplicity in the decor which meant 5 years of white walls.

I went on to My White Shirt to find the sq. ft. of this pad and didn't come across it. Does anyone know?

i've actually gone back and forth with the idea of repainting my walls a dark color again. i miss the wow factor but i think niche put it perfectly-dark walls (For me) in a studio can be a bit much and the white walls feels more calm/simple. again, this was my experience...i can't speak for everyone.

my couch is from mitchell gold & bob williams.

seaside-the sq footage is 335ish (just under 400sq is what my realtor told me).

Is that a Murphy bed? (I see a likely niche there, but I'm no so sure.)

I have always wanted to ask Murphy bed owners how they are to live with in studios. I have had "furnished" studios where I was stuck with a sofa bed, and they were kind of miserable, both from a comfort and from a conveninece standpoint. (Nothing like coming home early from work with the flu and having to literally make the bed before cocooning...) Are Murphy's similar, or are they easier to use?

sherrybinnh-funny you mention murphy bed b/c i blogged about that very thing this morning. i do not have a murphy bed but i am considering adding one. when i lived in ny, i slept on one. it wasn't the greatest thing b/c i hated taking it up and pulling it down. i could never leave mine out b/c i was sharing a studio with a buddy who also had a murphy bed.

murphy beds are better than sofa beds because you only have to pull them down and not remove pillows and pull it out...the bed can be made or left unmade. the only problem comes when you put furniture in front of your murphy bed. then you have move stuff around and then pull the bed down. i hope i haven't confused you :)
