More Kitchen Inspiration from Julia Child

JC Kitchen1-316-Kristen.jpg Visiting the reassembled kitchen of Julia Child Leah's post — What We've Learned from the Pro — has inspired us to post about kitchen color and knife storage. Julia Child was no stranger to color, especially contrasting colors. She had blue kitchen cabinets with a yellow table cloth and it looked great.

Hooked on Houses featured a perfect example of why we shouldn't be afraid of color in the kitchen. Whether you choose a muted tone or a bright red, a pop of color is sure to make a huge difference.

Julia Child was a huge knife buff and claims she had to have every knife she ever laid eyes on. Julia used store bought magnetic knife racks, but it's super easy to make your own at home. Home-made magnet knife racks were also featured in Chris’ Green Kitchen.

What memories do you have of Julia Child's kitchen? Did her kitchen inspire any features in your kitchen?

Wow. I don't think "pop" is quite the word for the color in the hooked on houses kitchen. Its cute though the lighting and window treatments seem mismatched. I would feel like I needed to dress to match -- though that would probably be okay too.
