Bee culture is not new to the South — it was around long before the Secret Life of Bees and Ulee's Gold. Lately, the hobby has been taken up by some who believe that harvesting their own honey helps build immunity to local allergens and there is even a beekeeping society in Atlanta that occasionally hold workshops at the Botanical Gardens. Luckily, those of us who fear getting stung or don't have the time to tend a hive can delight in honeycomb-inspired decor. Check out our roundup of bee-inspired design and inspiration after the jump…

Ha- I have the most adorable china hutch with gold-colored bottle glass doors (exactly like the "Linz honeycomb window").
Sad thing is that it doesn't really fit in my kitchen...
Anyone in Seattle interested in a new cabinet? :)

My husband will love this post. He's having his very first hive built for April when his first batch of bees show up. I never knew urban beekeeping was so trendy.

I bee-lieve that the bee was Napoleon's personal motif...

La Rochère makes glasses and plates with a Napoleonic bee motif. I have some 10-ounce bee tumblers and I love them!

that "Linz honeycomb window" reminds me of a partition wall in the entryway of the house i grew up in in the late 70's...i like it. :)

Whoa, that Linz window looks a LOT like the front window at my Dad's old place! Actually, like traceymariel, it was essentially a partition wall in the entryway XD

I've always had a thing for hexagons and I would love to one day have a bathroom with plain white hexagon tiles. Sigh.

Wow, I grew up in a house with that exact same Linz honeycomb window!!
It was on the landing next to our front door and since my brother and I (as kids) would "ski" down the stairs to this landing...."skiing" entails taping those orange hot wheels tracks to our feet, donning real ski goggles and using a yard stick for ski poles....my mother was always afraid we would crash through that window one day. Mothers! It remained a part of our indoor olympics for years.
Ahh, the memories.....

I like the honeycomb designs for the window, bed frame and seating.
On bees, the Oakhurst Community Garden also offers classes on beekeeping here.
