DC designer Darryl Carter has shared his design tips with AT DC and we've blogged about his new furniture line. Now we get to see inside his Virginia house! The picture above shows Darryl Carter in front of his 19th-century Virginia farmhouse with his dogs, Otis and Lucy. Click below the jump for more info and photos...

Darryl Carter's home mixes antiques and contemporary pieces. Above is a photo of the studio, which has an antique gurney and desk, a partition made of Indonesian banyan bark, and portraits of Carter's dog Otis.
Below is a photo of the dining room with an oak gateleg wake table by Scottish Connection, antique armchairs, a Baroque-style chandelier, and a painted barn door.

The master bathroom has an oak-rimmed galvanized-metal tub, a milking stool, and an antique print.

In the kitchen: a FiveStar range, a Vent-A-Hood hood, and an 18th-century Italian table used as an island.

In the breakfast room are an antique English daybed and tooled-leather chair, and a farm table designed by Carter.

The house was featured in Elle Decor eons ago (that is where the photos come from). It's a tad too white and beige for me, but I love the overall feel of this place.

Quite lovely to look at.
Yet frivolously "rustique" for heavy duty living. I assume that he employs a long armed maid, or else that bathtub is just for display. Or perhaps there is a little dwarf who climbs inside the tub, wearing scrub brushes on his feet like ice skates? Those skates may be good for white washing the floorboads too.
Since I am the long armed maid at home, I'll just sigh at the pastoral serenity, and understand why most 19th century farmhouse housewives, prayed for linoleum.

what an incredibily peaceful home...i love the light (ambiance) of the entire place..every room looks so inviting and calm. I love that there's no glaring light yet it has just enough reflective surfaces to make it 'real'. Nani's comments are hilarious, but I have to admit it that I'm completely sold on the whole place..with or without the dwarfs;)

I don't know. It's a little too old-timey for me. And that tub doesn't look clean! You'd never get me in that thing!

I enjoy the color palette and the great editing, but I'm just curious about how you pull up to that great dining room table in that chair? You would always have to lean in pretty far to be over the table, wouldn't you?

How refreshing to see an interior posted here that isn't the same old MCM/IKEA/DWR...

And how to do you remove one log from a stack that reaches to the ceiling? Still, gorgeous.

I loved this place in Elle Decor. It's wonderful how he uses antiques almost as sculptural objects.

I'm sure he reaches up and removes one off the top.

I love this house. I love his book. I lust after a number of pieces in his furniture line. If I ever win the lottery, I'm calling him to design my new, post-win digs. I might even place that call before I tell my mom the good news. ; )

Couldn't you find a picture of him without his shirt on?
Stealing the word "old-timey." Good word(s).

Serene, intelligent, a dash of veldt-meets-Kubrick. Bravo.

Does he really live in this house? or Just a model house for show. That bath tub looks too rusty...looks like one will get a tetanus if a person takes a bath in it.
Very nice home though
