Jonathan Adler Junior: For Adults & Kids

On Sunday, Jonathan Adler launched "Jonathan Adler Junior" at the New York International Gift Fair. We've already skimmed through the photos spotted on the blogs and found items that might be fun in a grown-up's home: miniature anchor pillows, colored zebra print rugs, small white accent lamps…

We can't wait to see them on the shelves to see if they would transfer to our home, but at least there's hope for stylish children everywhere, what with DwellStudio for kids and now Jonathan Adler Junior. Who's next to launch a mini-me line?

Read more about the line from Cococozy, who was there in person on Sunday.

I want to have a kid just so I can put that lion rug in its room.

I don't know, isn't the kid kind of young to start pushing the Republican theme?

I have the full-size version of that sofa. It's been an absolute NIGHTMARE, with tops of the the fabric-covered buttons--which are just pressed on--popping off all over the place, on the back and on the cushion.

I bought it in the winter of 2007, and by the next January, they had a "furniture doctor" come out to look at it. He declared in writing that the problem a manufacturer's defect.

Dealing with customer service at Jonathan Adler after that was so horrible, and they were so unresponsive it was insane. Even though I made it clear that all I wanted was to have someone replace the press-on buttons with traditional wrapped buttons and to have them reimburse me, they kept sending me replacement seat cushions made the same way (which did nothing to address the problem or to hide the popped-off buttons on the back of the sofa). It's like I'd talk to them, they'd say, oh, that makes so much sense, I see what you're saying, and then they'd act like the conversation never happened and tell me I was being sent another giant replacement cushion I would have to lug home from work.

I would have to hound them to respond to my emails and calls. And a year later, when the problem was still unaddressed, they even sent a salesperson over to look at my sofa in person, because they refused to accept what I and the furniture doctor had told them--the buttons were defective--and instead had decided I was abusing my sofa.

That visit wasn't until ALMOST A YEAR after I had informed JA of the problem, and over a year after I had ordered my sofa.

After the visit they offered to replace my sofa entirely--as if the entire previous year of conversations about replacing the buttons had never happened. I told them I could not understand why I would want that since the buttons on the replacement cushions popped off just like the originals had, so I had no expectation that a new sofa would be any different. All I wanted was wrapped buttons, and if they could not do that, that was fine since I had tons of extra fabric from the many replacement cushions. All I'd ask is that they help me find an upholstered who could make the buttons and put them on for me, and that JA would pay for at least part of it.

I was then told Donna Montgomery, JA's retail customer service director or something, would be calling me to figure out what to do.

Guess what? Donna never bothered to call, and I am ashamed to say that at that point I gave up. To this day I'm left with a fairly expensive and utterly stupid looking sofa with half its button tops missing, and it makes me sick to think about.

i'm sure most of this will be out of my price range for the nursery were putting together, but that apple or pear mirror would be PERFECT- as we are using alexander henrys apples and pears fabric for the crib bedding.

elvedon- sorry to hear you had such a horrible time with JA, i loved that sofa- but could never spend that amount on it with a messy toddler who would probably destroy it! i'm surprised to hear the quality and customer service isn't better!!!

This room is amazing! I might have to remodel my sons room to look like this before he gets too big haha. I wonder what celebrities children's rooms look like? Didn't Jessica Alba just become a mom? I bet child's room looks incredible! She's going to be on Live! Regis and Kelly tomorrow. Hopefully she'll share a little bit about what its like in her home now! :)

It's depressingly middle aged for a kids line.

Cannot for the life of me figure out what "Republican Theme" gonzo5680 is referring to...

...but any kid with Jonathan Adler furniture and accessories is gonna be spoiled rotten!

Cute stuff, I don't have children but I do have some of his sale pillows, which I love. I'd consider putting that lion rug in my office any day. But on an unrelated note...does anyone else getting the Nuva Ring birth control ad after showing Jonathan's new designs for children find that as funny as I do. Hilarious.

I was at the Gift show in NY on Wednesday and saw this--the couch is so adorably tiny! Frustrating being able to see the pieces (and the cheap wholesale prices attached to them) and you can't buy anything unless you buy 50 units. Darn wholesale.

lol it's probably completely wrong of me to think that my cats would TOTALLY love that damn couch. lol
