Look!: Graffiti Art In and Around DC Homes
Washington DC

Controversial it may be, but we love graffiti art! So much so that DC collectors have been adding pieces to their homes (both inside and out). We found a colorful DC-themed mural on a condemned building on 14th Street. Below the jump are some graffiti pieces being put to use inside the home...

Shown above is a graffiti train by Tim Conlon, brightening up a home office. Below are 2 tagged panels by Kelly Towles from an Artomatic 2008 installation that have been cut up and used to decorate a kitchen wall. As writers and artists, we love the "Stop Plagiarism" message.

In case you missed it, below is a photo of graffiti artist Tim Conlon in the process of working on a commissioned outdoor shed.

So would you add graffiti art to your home - either outside or inside?

That top picture isn't Church of the Rapture is it, where the new cafe by the owners of Tryst is going to be, along with a yoga studio upstairs?

Working on an outdoor shed? A brick shed with multiple levels, windows, and a basement?

Love the topic, but wonder how you chose these subjects? Kelly Towles is by far the best graffiti artist in DC, with plenty of examples (boxing-gloved characters, etc.) around the city. And the mural(s) at 14th and T makes these pieces look like middle school art class. Here's Kelly Towles on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=kelly%20towles&w=all

Or "graf" if you're actually into the medium/scene.
