Look! Modern Interior Shutters
Washington DC

Modern Shutters.jpg

Here is a great modern take on some interior shutters that we just had to stop and admire. We love how different and organic they look – almost like giant slices of Swiss cheese...

What a fabulous way to do a window treatment. They must be custom made and perhaps even designed by an artist. They certainly give the window a unique sculptural feel. A real treat for the neighbors.

I agree that an artist had a hand in the design/concept. Just look at the wonderful sculptures in the yard.

I don't know if I would call this modern. Organic, maybe.

I like but not so much in that setting. The shutters are better suited to more expansive scale than the narrowness of a vintage brick townhouse. I see them in a sweeping, low modern.

I live by this house and I love those shutters! I think my row house looks a little too traditional from the front to try those.
There are lots of fabulous details in Capitol Hill when you start to look closely--there is some lawn art on 7th NE by Mass that I totally covet.

I love them, too. Also loving the sculptures in the courtyard. I would love to have a peek inside to see what the owner has going on in there. I bet it's fabulous!

Reminds me of something that Antonio Gaudi would have designed.

Wow! I live in SF and I just saw something similar this morning when I went for a walk. It looked like wooden room dividers used as window coverage.

I walk my dog by this house almost every day, and have always been introgued by the shutters.

I like the idea of the shutters---but not those shutters!
They do not enhance the over all look of the house.
They seem to be trying to be to different for the sake of being different. That is a hard thing to carry off for most people and should be done with great care.

Monica ,I agree that it does look like something he would have designed. Thanks, never heard the name and googled him and his stuff is absolutely delicious.
