Home Anthology: Mid-Century Modern Furnishings

After hearing rave reviews of Home Anthology from both Scott (Scott's Detailed Restoration at The Ontario) and Yassir (Yassir's Mid-Century Modern with an Asian Twist), we made the hour drive up to Catonsville, Maryland to check out the store. Home Anthology is a mid-century modern fan's fantasy — a huge warehouse filled with furniture, home accessories, and lighting all in excellent condition.

The store owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. Home Anthology has a great selection and beautiful products, but just because it's in Catonsville doesn't mean you'll get bargains — prices are comparable to DC stores with similar mid-century modern items.

Nini and Rob are the best. As someone who has furnished lots of my home from HA, my advice is to keep in touch with them about what you're seeking, and visit regularly to see the new stock. They turn stuff over quickly and they also are willing to take on a piece with a couple of imperfections and price it accordingly. We got a beautiful Florence Knoll walnut dining table there for a steal because the veneer had a little warping that is imperceptible unless you're looking for it. Most vintage shops wouldn't have even bought that piece in the first place.

This place is amazing. I wanted to live in the store. Also phenomenal and in Baltimore is Oakenshawe in Hampden (which is also...not cheap.)

I must agree - Rob and Nini are the best! I actually happened to be at the store buying a couple of Drexel night stands when AT visited the store. The things I purchased were very reasonably priced and Rob cleaned them thoroughly before I took them home. The best part of all is that Rob and Nini are honest and nice, which is always important when you're spending money, especially on big-ticket and vintage items.

We love HA! We have a traditional home on the exterior, but Rob and Nini have helped us transform the interior. We love midcentury modern and Danish modern and HA has a great selection of both. We started our collection with a plycraft lounger and a leather Womb chair and the prices have been very reasonable.

Rob and Nini are very knowledgeable and do a fantastic job getting great pieces for their store. Make sure you go often because the selection changes.

Having lived in several big cities, including LA, I can say I have seen nothing like Home Anthology. We even spent a weekend in NYC recently hoping to find a similar store, and no one we found had the selection and prices of HA.

I've been to Home Anthology many times and every time it's like a new experience because they get new pieces in constantly. And they're so pleasant and honest in their dealings!

Their attention to detail is amazing. They've also arranged displays so that you can see everything easily and imagine how it will look in your home and not just piled up in a shop.

If my house ever burns to the ground (god forbid), I'm heading straight to Home Anthology to replace everything!

Victoria, check their website. Many of the items on there have prices listed. For the record, my two walnut Drexel bedside tables were $350 (for both). They do have some water stains on top (which Nini was quick to tell me about when I emailed about them), but that doesn't bother me.

I love the two pale grey painted "Mademoiselle" chairs by Tapiovaara in the third photo. You hardly ever see those anywhere.

Rob and Nini are two of the nicest people ever! Their store is so amazing, every time I go there I walk around saying "I want that....and that....and that"

There is always a new selection of pieces to check out and everything is arranged so nicely, you can get a lot of inspiration just walking around.

They are super honest about everything and are incredibly knowledgeable about their pieces. I love home anthology!
