We are looking for a new blogger (or two) to help us cover Washington DC and the Mid-Atlantic area in 2009. Do you love AT, interior design and all things home-related? Would you like a place to share your ideas and inspirations with a large design-centric community? Think you would like to join our team? If this is you, jump below for the details:
While we'd really like someone from the DC area, we could be swayed to add an additional stellar voice from the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region: Philadelphia? Raleigh? High Point? Baltimore? Richmond? — convince us!
Responsibilities include daily posting that fully communicates the design scene of DC and the Mid-Atlantic region with house tours, shop reviews, product reviews, interviews and random design notes.
This is a part-time, freelance position (1-2 posts per day) and it's great (but not required) if your other gigs plug you in to the design scene in some way.
You need:
• a good eye for design
• strong blog-style writing skills
• a really good computer
• a totally reliable high speed connection
• a digital camera and excellent photography skills
• Photoshop or Photoshop Elements
• knowledge of how to use all these things
Deadline: Monday, January 5 (earlier is always appreciated!)
Please submit:
• Your name
• Where you live
• How long you have been reading AT
• What you do full time
• 2 sample posts with great pics (good photos are very important and we urge you to take your own pics to show off your skills) that would be excellent AT:DC and Mid-Atlantic posts - keep it 200 words maximum and blog local subjects or give national subjects a unique, local twist. We want to be WOWED with your unique voice and awesome pictures! Please submit posts written specifically for AT and not for another blog. Look to the Apartment Therapy city sites for the general style and format of posts for submission.
Send to: aaron (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com please put "AT BLOGGER SEARCH" in the subject header.
We will confirm your email, and then review your submissions. We will then ask our top choices to try out live on the blog.
What we really want is a Metroplex based AT! When does DFW get some love?

And what about Atlanta? Can we get someone further south than D.C?

I know the Midwest doesn't seem all that exciting, but I think there are some hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Glad to see DC is going to be represented more thoroughly on AT. DC may be small, but there's a lot going on here. I'd love to apply for the position myself, but I think it may be a little too time-consuming for me. Can't wait to see the new DC posts.

Do you have any plans on maybe starting a blog from Portland Oregon?? There are some great places out here. I would be very interested doing those blogs. You all should let me know. :o)

Though I live in the DC metro area and love living here, I am surprised that there is no AT Miami represented on this site.
To me, DC has always been a follower, rather than a leader, when it comes to design trends, certainly in comparison to NY, Chicago, LA, SF, and Miami.

How about four hours south of DC in rural VA? Hey, we got design out here...there is even a Target over in Roanoke!!!
Seriously, though, I have often wondered why Atlanta has no AT rep. I grew up there with dreams of becoming a designer and it is a city full of design gems. Come on Atlantans, someone step up to the plate.

How about Seattle?!

Dear world: please send us free content... then you'll get to "try out" for the blog... by sending us some more free content... and we're looking for a couple posts a day with pictures (but it's "part time"). And then we'll get into whether you get paid. And if you want to send in free content from somewhere else... well if you INSIST, I guess we'll run your stuff unpaid.
Yes, convince us, indeed.

Atlanta is the largest city in the southeast, yet we are always overlooked. Show us some love :)

Any chance of Toronto finding it's way in the AT map? I'd love to be your T.O. blogger!

What type of camera do you prefer? One that is higher
end or would a point and shot be okay. I also would love
AT adding Seattle/Tacoma/Portland to the blog roll.
