It's always a shame when someone loses their home - even more so with so many unique pieces of artwork and decor.

I hope that she's insured and will be able to one day see this as an opportunity to move on towards better times as well as be able to continue her support of the arts.

*sigh* . . . so incredibly sad to hear. But the most important thing is that SHE's safe. The rest are things (albeit lovely ones). Hopefully it can be seen as an opportunity to support even more local artists.

Heart ache.
She has real panache - knows both at, and how to fearlessly display it, while still keeping the house a fun fearless place to live in.

Peggy had work by Nigerian born, UK artis Yinka Shonibare. Shonibare had an amazing, quite extensive show at the Israel Museum, in Jerusalem, where I live. The show was delightful and thought provoking at the same time.
He will be showing in the Brooklyn Museum - GO AND ENJOY IT!

I just thank God no one was killed or hurt...as much as we love beautiful things...at the end of the day, they are just that --"things". She will pull through this stronger than ever

How sad. My heart hurts for her. I hope everyone involved was unharmed, including that beautiful dog.

If her style is a reflection of her spirit, I expect that she will rebuild with optimism and enthusiasm. I hope the DC arts and education communities rally around her in support.

This is so terrible. I have that article saved from the magazine.

Catherine W., I think you hit the nail on the head. This is one woman whose sense of spirit is immediately conveyed with one look at her or her art.

Heartbreaking! Thank God nobody was seriously injured or killed, but what a loss. My heart aches just looking at all that wonderful stuff.

Peggy
I am so sorry about the loss of your home and art. Its tragic

Friends of mine--Dr and Mrs Krosnick--lost their entire home and artwork (largest collection of Nakashima furniture in the world) to a fire some 15 years ago.

While the pain of that loss never leaves, they were able to re-build/expand the entire collection. People came to their aid in full force and George Nakashima and his daughter made custome peices for them too.

Your spirit will allow you to do the same.

It's always terrible to hear news like these.... Pray she can get back on track soon.... I't would be really great that as she believed in people and artists that these same people would come and contribute to create a bigger better haven so as to comfort her on her loss.
