Tour the White House Grounds & Gardens!

The White House will offer its annual Gardens & Grounds Tours this April 18th and 19th. Good news for locals: tickets for the tours will be available only in person, on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Tickets to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll were only offered on the internet.) The Gardens & Grounds Tours will include the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, the Rose Garden, the Children's Garden, and the White House South Lawn. The White House Grounds & Gardens tours will be offered on Saturday, April 18 (10 am - 4 pm) and Sunday, April 19 (11 am - 3 pm). Get a free ticket by lining up at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion at 15th and E Streets. Tickets will be given out starting at 8 am but get there early because lines can be long. Tours will be canceled if the weather is bad so call before lining up (202.456.7041).

I did this last year and it was really nice. They give the tickets out in time brackets, so even if you get there late, you can get your ticket, wander around for a while on the mall, then go back and do the tour.
