apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Roxo Easy Chair from IKEA

RoxoEasyChair.jpg

We're still on the lookout for fabulous seating for a good friend's new patio space, and must confess we fell in love with this option from IKEA as soon as we saw it online. We love the profile and the color, and fact that it looks like it could be at home indoors even though it is designed for outdoor living...

The powder-coated steel frame is designed to withstand the elements, and the cushions are purportedly easy to clean. Measuring 35 3/8"W x 32 5/8"D x 26"H, the Roxo Easy Chair has a small enough profile to fit on many apartment balconies, but is substantial enough to work as part of an arrangement in a larger space as well. We love the vibrant red cushions, especially for folks who actually have a grassy space to house the Roxo, though the green cushions would help create a soothing natural feel for an apartment balcony.

We really appreciated Cbina's feedback on the comfort level of the last bench we fell in love with online; does anyone have similar personal butt-in-seat experience with the Roxo to share with us all?

It just doesn't look well made. The legs are so thin and the cushions don't look thick enough either. I remember sitting in it at Ikea a few weeks ago, but I cannot remember how comfortable it was. I don't think it was fantastic, though I could be wrong.

It's pretty comfortable, but it needs arms - we tried it out (for a minute anyway) at IKEA too.

I sat in it and found it very comfortable. I loved the red!

so the legs look like the same construction as their pummel bench (photo not mine), which i have at home. I know it looks thin -- but they're really really sturdy all the way down to the little round foot. I agree re: cushions looking really inadequate though.

I have the green one in my backyard. The cushions are actually pretty substantial, and I've found it to be really comfortable. The only problems I have are that 1) the paint on one of the legs was chipped out of the box, so it will probably rust and 2) it sits really low to the ground. I'm not sure it was worth what I paid for it, but it is really sturdy and comfy.

I have the green one! I found it in the As-Is and bought it for the kids' bedroom. It's comfy and perfect for 3 kids to sit and read.
It actually looks pretty nice indoors as well.

I tried it out at IKEA last week, and I thought it was quite comfy! I had seen it online, and thought that the back cushions might slide when you sit on it, but they feel pretty secure, especially for loose cushions. Also, as Colleen mentioned, the proportions are lovely. You can seat two on it like a loveseat, but it's as small as a large armchair. My only complaint is that I wish that the green version had fun, printed back cushions like the red one does. Overall, I think it's a fabulous option for indoors or out.

It's worth mentioning that it's even cuter in person. :)

i sat on it, its sturdy, it can fit about 1 and 1/2 people. the cushions were very thick, you cant see the legs or the back at all, and this is nice. i think that two of them together might work, but then you have spent enough to afford the cb2 outdoor seat for two people, with arms, but without the cute pillows. i like this kind of furniture, because you can always spray paint a different color on the frame.
