We were delighted to receive this picture of another fabulous orange door from DC residents Amy Beth, Alastair and Monty. We were equally delighted to hear that their color choice was in fact inspired by an earlier Apartment Therapy New York post about homes in London...
Amy and Alastair's note to us: "Hi! We saw your great pic of the porch and orange door and it reminded me of our house. We originally decided to do our colors based on another photo from your site about a house in London which was Victorian and appeared near black or charcoal grey with a bright pink door, but being the only girl in my house, I couldn't swing pink. We LOVE our orange and grey combo though so your pic made us smile.
The dog is our English Mastiff Monty who has been a real trooper with the renovation of our rowhouse here in NW DC. All our best and thanks as always for a wonderful site!"

I'm a sucker for a dog in a picture. That said, not sure I like the orange with the brick-I do like it with the charcoal and it would look great against stone.

Monty looks like that all the time :) It is his "thing" Our English Bulldog Noah is slaphappy all the time and Monty is the serious and droopy lovebug. Glad you all like the door. It was very difficult to find the right color since most companies water down the brightness to make it easier on the eyes. We went with Disney paint in BOUNCY BOUNCY. It makes us smile just typing it.
And I would be thrilled to have slate over here! Maybe someday:)

Sorry - when we bought the house the door was here. We have looked for other doors and had the same problem though - there isnt much selection at standard places like Home Depot. Maybe someone else can help. And Monty thanks all of you - he has never felt so admired.
The Chicago bears thing made me laugh - I had NEVER thought of that but I guess it is true and no, it might not be a good thing...lol. Hopefully it doesnt have that exact effect with the whole house showing since it is LOTS of charcoal and one door in orange. :)
