Adhesive Gift Wrap from Hallmark
Washington DC

324gcs_gw_adhesive_main2.jpg

Have you heard of adhesive gift wrap paper? It could be great for those of us who love to give gifts, but can't wrap well. We haven't tried it yet, but love the idea. Would this really make wrapping easier?...

The adhesive gift wrap is $4.99 a roll from Hallmark and comes in a variety of patterns.

Have you tried this wrapping paper? What do you think of the idea?

if it's reusable and recyclable, great! if not, NOT.

I feel like this would start sticking to itself the way plastic wrap does, thus making it more difficult to wrap.

Didn't they invent this a long time ago... I think they called it contact paper.

I agree with grrliz, i think it will start sticking to itself while you're wrapping something. It might take more of your time than by using the usual wrapping paper.

I think this is a good idea for recovering those old college books that you couldn't sell back or the ones that were too dear to you to throw away.

I've been told I am a fabulous gift-wrapper already, but I would still give this stuff a try. My fear though, is that I would get dust or hair or something stuck to the inside of the paper that I wouldn't be able to get off, and have to grab a new piece. I do think it looks interesting though, and might give it a try someday.

I think it has a very soft stick tack to it---not like contact paper. You can place it on a box and pull it off very easy if you want to repostion it.
Would be great for lining drawers perhaps.

Wrapping gifts poorly is sweet and shows your own honest effort -- what's wrong with that? Not everyone needs to be Martha.

I have actually used this and it is fantastic. Not like contact paper, it sticks but just the right amount.
The packages I have wrapped have a slight sheen and look great!
But, the BEST way to use this paper ... a backdrop for shelving!
Check out the leftmost paper. I bought an inexpensive 3 height shelf from Target. Before I tacked on the back I added this paper. I just smoothed it on! So now my shelf has a great design hiding in the backgound. Could not be easier and it looks very cool.

I'll have to see if I can find this stuff. I was thinking of using a pretty wrapping paper as an inexpensive solution to cover the back of an exposed shelf in our living room. But if I can find the sticky stuff, it'll save me pulling out my dreaded spray adhesive. =)

I could see the sticky paper being a good solution for those times when you're out the door to a party and pick up a gift on the way (are we the only last minute shoppers?) with the intention to wrap it in the car. Then you get in the car and realize you forgot to buy tape and have to run back into the store, and are late for the party and uh....yeah. I've actually done this several times. =(

Is it sticky like a post-it or sticky like tape? It might be nice so you use less tape, but I'm still skeptical.

the striped piece would look really nice in a frame.

It is a little less sticky than a post-it - my mom wrapped my birthday presents in some of this, and they really didn't stay closed at all. I agree it could be great for the back of a shelf, but it might need a little extra help at the corners...

I inadvertently bought a roll of adhesive wrapping paper about two months ago. I personally found it was more difficult to wrap especially when you mess up and have to readjust, you have to unstick the whole thing. However I can see how wrapping can be easier when you do the sides.

I bought some of this for wrapping my Father's Day gifts, and though it seemed kind of unnecessary for general wrapping, it does have one major bonus going for it: it makes wrapping odd shaped gifts SO EASY. I bought my Dad one of those racks for long-handled tools, for his backyard, and it was lumpy and had parts that were indented and it was so large that it required two go-arounds with the wrap. This stuff made the job super easy. :)

Speakaboo, that's why keeping generic gift bags (you can get a pack of 'em at dollar stores, even!) and some tissue paper is the best! Just keep those in your car trunk and you won't have to worry about it again. :)
