Isabelle et GĂ©rard Planchon gave up their respective legal and architecture practices in Belgium and opened an incredible guest house on the island of Djerba in Tunisia — the largest island of of North Africa. Using ONLY white and blue colored decor, the home is furnished with designs by Verner Panton, Philippe Starck, Ferruccio Laviani, Jasper Morrison, Frank Gehry, and Richard Hutten. The result is a minimalist, though charming, combination of modern design and Djerbian architecture. Click through to take a mini-tour of the blue and white house...

Absolutely lovely! I was in Djerba as part of a tour of Tunisia in October. This design style is popular in Sidi Bou Said, in the north of the country. Tunisia is a spectacular country with Middle Eastern, French and Mediterranean influences. I highly recommend it as a vacation spot for those who want to go off the beaten path.

I don't want to seem like I'm shamelessly advertising, but seeing these pictures reminds me so much of a good friend's book of poetry about Djerba that was recently published. She (who grew up around DC) describes the scenery and architecture of the island beautifully.
The pics above remind me a lot also of the coastal cities of Asilah and Essaouira in Morocco.

I love this color...ever since I saw this post I've been scouring the net for either curtains or fabric like this, and haven't found it- does anyone know where I could find this?
Thanks so much!
