The Philadelphia Inquirer features a plumber's storage garage that was converted into a home. After one of the owners suffered from a fall, they wanted a space that would be easier to move around in. They were originally going to convert the 4,000 sq ft space into a more traditional 2- or 3-story home, but ended up keeping it as a loft...
Shown above the jump is the two-story living/dining area, which has several skylights. Shown on this page is the guest room.
The loft stretches across a city block and includes two gradual staircases. The open space allows the couple to display their art collection and host art openings and large parties.
The garage/loft house will be open to the public on October 19th as part of Philadelphia's Center City Residents Association's 50th Anniversary Tour. Let us know if you get to see it!

Snarky comments about the decor are fine, about the people and their bodies/choice of undergarments, not so much. Plus, I think she looks great - friendly and non-pretentious.

I think she looks amazing. And why on earth should bras be mandatory? Where is a woman's freedom to do whatever she wants? She's happy, from the article she seems to have a very rich and interesting life and she has a nice home... let her do whatever she wants!

i don't think hejira was being snarky. that was a comment was quite direct. and the bralessness is striking. i don't know that foundation garments are mandatory, but appropriateness is a factor.
it's her house, not an office, so whatever. but i only clicked through the jump because of it.

I'm sure Mr. Man in the photo loves his wife's carefree spirit, as evidenced in his happy body language.
I love that they kept this home as a loft. It's a beautiful way to live. Not sure about that guest room though but that's ok. They don't have to sleep in it.

Yes, this site is about design, but I agree with Lady J that the bralessness distracts from the home, which is what the post (and PI article) are about.
