Triangle House Fits 2000 sq ft on a 500 sq ft Lot
The Washingtonian, 9.01.08

City planner Jeff Speck designed his house on a sliver of land at Tenth Street and Florida Avenue in Northwest DC because it’s the tip of the original L’Enfant Plan. He wanted to fit 2,000 square feet of space onto the 500-square-foot lot. So Speck built a rectangle into the top two floors of the four-level, triangular house. We're completely blown away by the photos of this house. See more below the jump...

Above is the window seat in one of the triangle windows (you know we love window seats!). Below is the wood-burning stove and chimney that is built into the tip of one of the triangles.

John Speck is a co-author of "Suburban Nation: The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream." He advocates urban living and believes that cities should take advantage of all usable space, as he has done with his home.

I recently noticed another triangular lot for sale at the corner of W and Florida NW. I was trying to imagine what kind of house would fit there. I guess this is it. V. cool.

Putting the wood stove in the corner is a great use of that space...
...but I guess they don't have a Television?

I thought it was a modern church at first---it is a cool use of space.
