thumbs up
Name: Lindsey
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Type of Home: 1930s cottage
Color Inspiration: I was inspired by the beautiful stained glass in the door; my photographs, which are all in color and framed in classic black with white mattes and the desire to move as far from the dingy khaki walls that came with the house when I bought it six weeks ago.
Give Lindsey a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!
Thumbs Up Voting is only activated for 48 Hours — so don't delay!
Color Inspiration continued: I wanted a gray with blue undertones that would work well with the pumpkin orange kitchen, but also something that would work as a neutral with the photography and all my wood furniture. Additionally, I added teal matte board to the back of my china cabinet to add a brighter pop of blue and to better showcase my photography collection.
Colors Used: Behr Light French Gray
Teal matte board from Hobby Lobby
Color Tip: Color can change a room's personality. When I moved in less than two months ago, the colors were a depressing khaki that competed with the wood floors and orange kitchen. Today, the blue/gray walls add both light and warmth.
Also, don't be afraid to change directions completely in terms of colors you like. Two years ago, I loved red and brown, now blue, orange and black are my colors of choice. I have no doubt this will change in the future and I'm excited about the possibilities.

Pretty! I love what you ended up doing with the wood panels, and the piano is such the eye catcher!

I like what the glimpse of orange from the kitchen does to the blue green walls in the living room. Really nice!

The flow of colors are fluid, smooth and easy on the eyes , The piano and floors mix and mingle with the decor. I would like coming home to this atmosphere. You are talented.

Thanks!
The coffee table was made by my grandfather from cypress driftwood he pulled out of a river north of New Orleans. I'm looking for the perfect rug to put underneath it to make it pop (it's almost a trompe d'oil now; it blends so well). I only moved in 6 weeks ago and I also need an arm chair and, eventually, a new couch.

Room looks very put together. Beautiful coffee table needs some books or a candle.

I love the Light French Gray color--in fact I've been looking for a color like this for our bathroom. Bingo! :)

Lloyders,
The Light French Gray is awesome. Looks more blue in bright light and like a light gray at night. I'm very pleased.

love the play of the wood with the cool blue colour. could use pulling some of that orange into the room. It's hard to get a clear idea of some of the colours from your picture and not having a clear view of your sofa.
