Samantha's Autumnal Bathroom
Room for Color - South #3

thumbs up

Name: Samantha
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Type of Home: single family home

Color Inspiration: The shower curtain, and my love for autumn colors. I was walking through the Home Depot paint aisle one day, and this wall color jumped out at me. It looked like a yummy chocolate candy bar. I took home a can and got cracking that night. I love how the colors go together to make the room feel warm and cozy, yet they pop off of each other. It's our only bathroom, so I wanted to create an atmosphere that my husband and I wouldn't mind squeezing into every day.

Give Samantha a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!
Thumbs Up Voting is only activated for 48 Hours — so don't delay!

Autumn Love

Colors Used: Walls: Behr Belgian Sweet (paint+primer). Frame/Accessories: Orange Rustoleum spray paint. Trim: Behr Bright White.

Color Tip: My husband likes a more neutral color scheme, and I love color. We met in the middle by using neutral colors for the walls and furniture, and added in pops of color with accessories in every room. Whenever the mood strikes to change the colors or the feel in a room (which is often in our house!), I can just strip out all the accessories and mix them up between rooms.

This is a really stunning bathroom. I love all elements of it and you've really made the most of such a small room! (Though being the worrier that I am, I'd worry about my necklace tree falling into the toilet.)

Congratulations on your really beautiful bathroom!

the sink is the most impressive part of an extremely impressive room. i wish we could see the bath tile better, but there's a peek in the mirror.

Absolutely beautiful. You have done a wonderful job for such a small place.

I agree with laetitiae; I'd be worried too, lol!

Good luck!

finally works now - the voting button! Guys you can vote now! Yes, it is very pretty! I personally just don't like the jewelry stand, with all the necklaces etc., on the water closet... other than that, it is BEAUTIFUL! :)

I'm curious about the card beside the little orange toilet. What does it say?

The little orange toilet in the black cubbie is too cute. (And how often does one say a toilet is cute?)

Wow, thank you for all the wonderful comments! I'm so thrilled to be in the running. To answer your questions:

The sink is always a great conversation piece when we have new guests over :)

The shower curtain is from Target, but it was a couple years ago. It reminded me of Orla Kiely. (This was before they brought her on)

The tiles are all the same tan tiles that's peeking in the pictures. I wanted to post a picture, but I thought the rest of the shots deserved the spotlight more :D

I only use the tree jewelry holder on the branches that stick up high, nothing ever falls off. It's better than the alternative: setting it on the shelf above the sink! I had a couple accidents with that :( We always keep the toilet lid closed when not in use.

The sign is in Spanish on one side, and English on the other. They are instructions to turn on the jacuzzi tub at the honeymoon suite we stayed in ;)

I'm glad to see some Mini Cooper fans too!

What a charming bathroom! It's so hard to know what to do with a little bathroom and yours is wonderful! Great job blending a masculine and feminine look! I just love it.

I wish AT would feature more small but beautiful bathrooms!

Want the shower curtain! Reminds me of Orla Kiely but nice that it's not. The colours work well together - think its the shower curtain that really pulls it together though.

The black boxes make cute and practical extra shelving. I'm endowed with a healthy dose of hardware snobbery, and I have to say, that sink & faucet are lovely.

Very nice. I like the colors very much. Also, great job on your photography. Small spaces like this can be very tough. I like the different angles too, it gives a great perspective of the whole space.

Nice! I'll add my name to the list of shower curtain coveters. And I'll also add that it takes a bit of chutzpah to enter a bathroom in a contest filled with somewhat grander spaces. But yours is so wonderful that it is a worthy contender!

You all are too nice! I'm proud to be the only bathroom on here :) I think it's everyone's first reaction to pick a true living space to enter in the contest. This bathroom was a complete gut job, and I designed it from the ground up. Since this has my heart and soul poured into it, I couldn't pick a different room that I just painted and added some furniture in :)

It's a shame Target doesn't carry that curtain anymore. I just adore it and would love to see more spaces with it! It was definitely love at first sight and that puppy jumped in my cart before I could say no.

Hey, I have that same shower curtain! It works perfectly in my bathroom, which is painted pale yellow and has pink/red tile (not my choice; I'm a renter)...the curtain really brings the disparate colors together. Looks awesome in your (much nicer) bathroom, too!

I have that shower curtain as well! Right now it is sitting in a drawer, waiting to be turned into cafe curtains for the kitchen...or maybe pillow covers for one of the kids' rooms. I haven't decided just yet. I loved it, and while knowing that I wouldn't be able to use it for its intended purpose, snatched it up (on clearance) anyway in hopes of finding a place for that fabric elsewhere in the house.
