Artwork? Check. Frame? Check. Perfect spot to hang newly framed image? Hmm... How about I sleep on it. Sound familiar anyone? Perhaps it's because I live in a newly renovated house that makes me hesitant to put nail holes in the wall, but I think I have the answer to my growing stock pile of framed images. Picture ledges!

Maybe it's just me, but even in this post, I find myself paying little attention to the ledge and more to the actual things resting on it... which is how it should be I suppose

Even better.....Ribba Picture Ledge from IKEA. $14.99, simple, and sturdy.
I finally purchased those after spending much more money on the modern ledges from Pottery Barn. The IKEA ledge is much sturdier. I don't trust my potterybarn shelves with much weight at all.

Try the Container Store, too. I'd been looking for well-made, simple, white ledges for a while and found some recently at CS. They're having a huge shelving sale right now, too, so it's a good time to buy.

The hardware is completely hidden (not-so in the photos) and no, I don't work for CS. It's just a timely post b/c I just mounted mine last week.

A bit of a thread hijack, I apologize... Now about those Ribba ledges. I recently bought the Ribba ledge and some matching Ribba frames (8 x 10s and 11 x 14s) to display on the ledges. I find that the picture frames are very unstable on the ledge! The Ribba frames are a bit too deep, I think, to lean at a stable angle on the ledge. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks all!

Don't you have to drill into the wall to hang those ledges anyway? If you can't leave nail holes in the wall, then how are screw holes better?

I'm not generally a fan of the picture ledge look, but I have to say I do really like the first one

slowdown - If you have over 20 framed images that you plan on hanging, well that's at least 20 nail holes (given that they are drilled in the correct position and you don't have to redo any). Most of the ledges just require a few screw holes, and can hold many items. I plan on using 3 long ledges to stretch the entire length of my hallway, and these will be able to hold many frames and small items - with only a handful of screw holes.
