Why surprising? There's a few million of us in and around Philly! It's not like the city's some kind of style-less wasteland, even if NYC *is* next door.

Tomorrowful, have you ever seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX? I love that show, it's hilarious, but it always makes me think Philly is really gross and dirty. Plus there's Rocky. I gues Philly just gets a bad rap.

I'm so excited for the Fall color contest! We even had a whole 2 days of breezy 80 degree weather that made it feel like Fall.

Well said Tomorrowful! I agree, Philadelphia has a lot of style (as do its inhabitants), but not a lot of representation. I get excited to see local posts - it gives me inspiration for remodeling/designing my own Philly rowhome, when shown other rowhomes with similar floor plans (the ubiquitous rowhome layout).

Also agree with Tomorrowful! Philadelphia, over the past decade (if not longer), has become the refuge for artists, students, and young professionals who cannot afford Brooklyn, much less Manhattan, which makes it exciting. Keep the Philly posts coming!!

I love It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...even though it doesn't paint the prettiest picture of my fair city. But hey, its just a TV show, and doesn't really represent the best of what the city has to offer. The show Seinfeld also had dreary interiors representative of New York City, but you wouldn't be surprised to find home with great style if you visited there...same should be said for Philly. Also one of my favorite house tours from this site (and in Philly) is Shauna and Stephens loft. It is a far cry from the dirty gritty picture people seem to have of Philly. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/dc/shauna-and-stephens-lively-loft-house-tour-092821

I really like that loft too. So many colors and textures with out being overkill. Visually interesting.

Imagine that, all those Philly entries. Maybe we should be a featured AT city, huh?

Seriously, you can't judge a city based on one tv show (even if it's a hilarious one)! Philly does have its gritty parts, but that's part of its character. Really, it's an amazingly beautiful city with all of the historic charm of Boston, New York or D.C., but more affordable.

We're the sixth largest city in the country....there is plenty of great design here!
