If I lived in that house, I'd wanna paint it like that... and my neighbors could paint theirs shades of pink and purple and yellow... it would be like "it's a small world" at Disney and everyone would be so happy all the time.

I think it looks beautiful and unique....but I'm not sure I would go with that particular color. It loses the historic feel of the neighborhood.

a base color that bright and beautiful would be enhanced by accents in quieter, more harmonious tones: evergreen, eggplant, even black

It doesn't look less historic to me. It looks really good to my eye. Its colourful without being atraditional, a good balance for freshness.
