Real diamonds may not be encrusting many pieces of home décor (chandeliers, side tables, frames...) anymore, but diamonds still make their impact on fashion for the home. Displaying diamond style could be an ironic way to memorialize the hey-days of luxury... or is it simply as gauche as a cubic zirconia posing as the real deal?
A recent article in The New York Times reports that jewelry is one of the retail areas slumping the most in these economic times, but what about diamond décor? If nothing else, some of these would be great gifts for about-to-be-weds or newlyweds.

Hmm, I'm really torn about a lot of these items. It's almost too much of a harkening back to the 70's. And some of those 70's ideas are best left in that era.
In particular, the table, glasses and mirror are a little too kitschy for me.

I don't know whether this is true, but I hear you want to be careful with those large crystal paperweights. If you leave them in direct sunlight they can act as magnifying glasses and cause a fire.
Kinda makes me want to get one & test it out...

I have a paper weight on one side of my sink faucet. Left side, diamond and occasionally flowers, right side clear hand soap dispenser. It's actually really pretty and makes me bathroom look like I intentionally left it white, rather than me just losing steam when choosing paint for that room.

That glass coffee table looks like a crystal coffin...

I think the table could look good in the right environment. And the Bertoia looks good anywhere in my opinion. All the items that actually look like engagement rings kind of irck me though.

I bought one of the crystal diamond versions, Rosenthal (it looks similar to the Z Gallerie one above), for a relative who was always obsessed with finding diamonds (even when that cat litter commercial came out, talking about diamonds in the glittery cat litter, she made a joke about buying it because that was 'an easier way to get diamonds than through her husband'). Then, when I found another on clearance for $5, I bought myself one as a reminder of her sense of humor. I don't think I would have bought one from a design perspective, because they're not that interesting, but as a humorous reminder of someone I love... works for me.

I for one would prefer to wear diamonds; the faceted effect doesn't appeal to me "blown up"; but my husband was smitten w/that crystal paperweight at our local Home Goods...and I did end up surprising him w/it.

Maybe you're just fashionista with a penchant for personal security? For the bride that has everything, acrylic knuckle dusters with the diamond you've always wanted...
