Roundup: Plastic Outdoor Rugs

Rugs leave their traditional place indoors and migrate outdoors, as indoor-outdoor living takes hold of more of the country. Los Angeles recently reported on outdoor rug options, but the more options, the merrier, we think. Here are a selection of plastic ones — read, easy to clean and long-lasting...

1 Marrakesh indoor-outdoor rug, $55-$279 at Ballard Designs

2 Negril indoor-outdoor rug, $34-$495 at Dash & Albert (I saw this one in the May Glamour)

3 Oriental Garland in dark blue, $44.50-$89.50, by Mad Mats (Sold at Homebody in DC)

4 Plastic outdoor rug with tree design, $56.95 at Home Infatuation

5 Indoor-outdoor Shag rug by Chilewich, $45-$150 at UnicaHome

6 Lavaro, $39.99, by Ikea

7 Plastic outside area rug in a double-color oriental design, $56.95-$24.95 at Home Infatuation

Also check out Pappelina. Look at their Web site for local stores, or stores willing to ship one to you &mdash they list stores in New York, Seattle, Florida and California.

Our outdoor balcony is concrete and cries out for a rug to soften it — if for no other reason than to protect dropped plates from being broken. We went for the IKEA one and much prefer the feeling of woven plastic to concrete under our feet during dinner outside.

Sometimes you can get them at Ross Dress For Less. Under ten bucks for a small one. I do have to say it faded pretty fast but my patio was full sun.

Yeah, wow, can't you find any for $10-15?? I would never pay more than that for an outdoor rug, even if it is super beautiful.

I replaced my front door mat with a nice rug a year ago after I realized that a small door mat would cost around $25-45 and I could get a 3'x5' rug for about the same price. Suddenly, my front porch looked like a great entry room! Well worth the cost.

I have been searching for the right one for my back living room. I have a dog that brings dirt in from the back patio and I love the idea of hosing it down and air drying.
I found this site that has a nice selection I want something on the soft side and not plastic feeling-

I like this one because of the color and it would work-

I just bought a 'nearly new' Ballard Designs outdoor rug at Goodwill for $20. It's jute with a lovely blue stripe; about 5" x 8"; perfect in every way (especially the price).

These are great rugs for kids rooms, too. I have two of the green tree rugs in my son's room, one facing up, and the other facing down. They look great, and hold up like iron!!
