Roundup: Really Annoying Alarm Clocks

apr-20-rg-1.jpg
Do you need a new, really dramatic way to wake up in the morning? We've rounded up the most annoying alarm clocks we could find including the Bandai Gun O'Clock, with a target you have to shoot to shut up. The loudest, most dreadful clock is probably the Canadian fire alarm repurposed into an alarm clock. We like the idea behind the Dreams Money-Saving BanClock, which only snoozes if you feed it a coin (it can hold up to $25 in coins). Links, prices, and more extreme alarm clocks below the jump...

The Banpresto DangerBomb Clock ($55.99) makes you simulate diffusing a bomb to stop the alarm (shown on this page).

Play laser tag first thing in the morning with the Laser Tag Alarm Clock ($21.99).

The No Snooze Alarm Clock has a strap that needs to be rotated quickly for 1.5 minutes to stop it beeping. Would that keep you awake?

The Bandai Gun O'Clock sells for $41 and the Dreams Money-Saving BanClock for $59.99. See a video on the Canadian fire alarm repurposed into an alarm clock by clicking here.

i'd like to add in the nanda "clocky" alarm that jumps off your table, runs away, and hides so that you have to get up and literally find it before you can turn it off.

The Deaf community had annoying alarm clocks down years ago. I have a clock with a bed vibrator. It can also be connected to a light, so the light will flash. For the hearing, you can choose either a buzz or a beep on many different frequencies, at many decibels. You can find them at Soundbytes online. It's not so much waking up. It's levitating in terror.

I prefer my sunrise clock.

I might have to try these. I have 3 alarm clocks go off in the morning and I just hit snooze on all of them. One flashes a bright light for about 5 minutes before the shrill alarm goes off. I really need to move it across the room, but I don't have anywhere to put it.

jenn_y, I thought you were joking, but I googled that I really might get it! clever invention!

I have a powerful clock radio from Cambridge Soundworks, cranked up really, really loud. That gets me up, eventually.

I also have a wireless GE security system with a couple of light control modules, and lately I've set it to turn on a bright lamp in the bedroom at the same time my alarm goes off, usually 7AM. I find the combo of the light *and* the loud alarm is enough to wake me up fairly quickly most mornings.

Which is impressive, because before I could easily linger in bed for an hour or so, and now that's down to 5-30 minutes, tops (and it seems to be decreasing with each passing month).

Here's two I've seen before that I would probably find more annoying.

Flying Alarm Clock -- http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/lights/9171/ -- You have to go find the part that flies off to turn it off.

Robotic Alarm Clock -- http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/lights/91f2/ -- Imagine chasing this first thing in the morning.

I would save $25 in a week with that money saving alarm clock.... I like my Now and Zen Tibetan singing bowl alarm. Unfortunately it only works when I've had decent sleep. Otherwise my cell phone, hidden before bed and put on max volume, is pretty effective!
