Tre Bamboo Lounger and Ottoman from Target

TreBambooChairOttoman.jpg

We love putting our feet up when reading or watching TV, but don't really have the spare floor space to dedicate to an ottoman. Imagine then our happiness when we found this lovely accent chair with a nesting footstool...

The Tre Lounger and Ottoman are made of bamboo stained to a natural finish and are certified by the Susatinable Forestry Initiative. Assembly is required and the overall dimensions are 19.75W x 28D x 36H for the chair and 19.75W x 24.5D x 15.5H for the ottoman.

This lovely chair is only available online, but can be returned to any Target store if you aren't happy with the look or feel of it in person. There are no reviews of this chair and $469 is a chunk of change to spend on a chair we've never sat upon, so if any AT readers own the Tre, we would love to hear your opinions.

Wow. It is beautiful. Does not look so comfy, though. I was hoping it was 89.99! (Got to have that .99 if it is from Target)

I wonder if this chair could be kept outside but still the price is kind of steep.

First I had to pick up my jaw from the desk when I saw the beautiful chair and at TARGET no less, then I had to pick it up again after I scrolled down and saw the price.

Overstock has the same chair for $300.
Still pricey, but better than Target's.

Been eying it also, but without an option to return it for free to Overstock, didn't want to take the risk. Would love to hear opinions about the chair, if anybody owns it.

Hmmm. I wonder why it's so expensive (at least in the context of Target)? Bamboo is incredibly easy to grow and harvest, and I'm guessing the chair is cut pressed into shape with a large die. that said, it looks really good, and if it were "designed" and produced in limited numbers, it would be twice as much at a "hip" store. (I'm only using quotes to point up the folly of exclusivity...)

Well, everytime I go to Target, I do see some pretty big hips.

SFI is an industry-sponsored organization and has been criticized as rubber-stamping wood companies' assessments of their own environmental stewardship. It's not FSC and is mostly meaningless.
