Abilene Rocking Chair from CWG Design
Washington DC

AbileneRockingChair.jpg

We found and fell in love with this stunning piece by Wendell Castle when internet browsing; it has been bookmarked ever since just in case we find ourselves shopping for chairs in London any time soon...

This stainless steel rocker is available from the carpenters workshop gallery in London, though only in a limited edition of eight. We couldn't find any price information on this piece which is rarely a good sign, but find the piece inspirational regardless...

Gorgeous. I love well-designed steel 'art-chairs' with organic forms, but almost without exception they're stratospherically priced. Like Newson's Lockheed Lounge or my current fave, Johnny Swing's Coin Chair.

that is gorgeous- needs a soft cushion, though. kind of has a 'spermy' look to it.

This is one of the most beautiful chairs I've ever seen in my life. I love how comfortable it looks despite how metal it is. That curve makes it look like it might even work in a very traditional setting -- that is, sort of a baroque kind of setting, as well as a very new, modern setting. I think that it might not quite work as well in an in-between kind of transitional space, though.

I'm not even a rocking chair person, but I'm a THIS CHAIR person.
