Tufted Lounge Chair from Brocade Home
Washington DC

BrocadeHomeLounger.jpg

Judging by the products we choose to highlight, we obviously have a deep affinity for blue chairs and for lounging. Imagine our delight therefore when we discovered that this wonderful tufted blue lounger is now on sale...

Brocade Home has slashed the price on this chair from $1399 to $699 making it an attractive option for anyone looking to create a reading nook or to carve out an escape at home. Has anyone had an opportunity to try out this fluffy velvet wonder? If so, is it as comfortable as it looks?

In fact, it looks like everything is basically about 75% off. uh-oh. And most of their catalog items don't seem to be available.

Do they ever sell anything?

Who is the parent....Restoration?

Yep - Restoration Hardware owns Brocade Home...
...and it looks like they're going under.

Maybe the neo-romantic/goth look targeting tweenage girls was the wrong niche?

yeah something is up....they don't seem to have any new merchandise, everything is on sale, some things are on a "are they even making a profit on that" sale, and like easyenough said, most of the items are unavailable.

Does anyone know what's going on with BrocadeHome.com? A friend made an order with them at this new sale and didn't hear back at all (even though they promise to confirm shipping info w/in 48 hrs) despite ordering almost a week ago. Now the website is down, no one's answering the phones, no one's answering e-mails, and the charges to my friend's credit card have been reversed.

I thought this site was trustworthy because it was a subsidiary of Restoration Hardware... what's the deal over there?

I'm extremely worried about what is possibly going on with Brocade Home. I made an order 7/25 concerning bedding and pillows and I have yet to still receive my whole entire order. I have called several times to their customer service line and emailed once concerning my order. I first called because items were listing out of stock even though it was in stock when I made the order. I needed to adjust my order because many of the items were coordinating so if they didn't have a duvet cover, I didn't want to get the pillows. I had problems with this simple request until I talked to a supervisor to cancel certain items on my order. Then when our first 3 pillows finally shipped, we were charged the full amount instead of the additional 50% off sale price. When I called to get the price adjusted, I was told that we would get invoice would show full price and charge full price until we got to the actual correct price. So our order is originally $800, they would charge full price and stop at $400 at the 50% half off price. I thought it was a bit strange but because they are connected to Restoration Home I was convinced. But only after the supervisor promised she would explain their billing process via email so I have something in writing. This was 2 weeks ago and before the website was down.

With the current FAQ's on their new website concerning brocade home gift certificates, consumerist.com's entry on Restoration Home outsourcing their furniture line to China, I'm extremely worried. After talking to friends, they suggested they might even be preparing to file bankruptcy. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been reading about other complaints on orders and found out on June 18, 2008 Restoration Hardware was de-listed from the NASDAQ and ceased to be a publicly traded company. Although I'm dying to have our items, I'm calling my credit card company and cancel my order. I'd like to know if anyone else is having problems too?

i got the inside scoop from a friend. apparently restoration is going through a lot of "changes" and brocade is taking a lot of the hits. they are still in business and not planning to close. all orders placed are still being shipped so don't you worry!! i also heard they are accepting new orders soon

i for one am a big fan and will be happy to see them back up and running.

...I called them this morning to check on three orders I made during the sale. The young woman I spoke to was lovely; she checked for me and said all the items have tracking numbers and will be shipped out within the next ten days, that they are overwhelmed by the response to the sale, and that they will likely be closing...which is incredibly disappointing.

"leabunn"--if you get any more intel on BH's company situation, PLEASE let us know. Brocade Home has a unique aesthetic, one that's singular and very special. I am a huge fan...just wish I had purchased some of their more dramatic pieces :-//.

hello all. need not worry, the site just experienced an overwhelming response to the summer sale. they're currently shipping out all orders placed prior to the closing of the website, to halt all new orders. i placed an order myself on 7/24 or so and i called to get a status update. the nice lady told me what happened so i completely understand.

as for RH going under as a whole, that is not true. RH recently completed a transaction with Catterton and Tower 3 Equity investors, and is now a private company, causing RH to be removed from the NASDAQ listing.

The parent company as a whole is undergoing a LOT of changes, internally and externally, because of the new "merger". They've invested a lot of money into a new warehouse, a new Baby & Child line, and new ordering systems for all RH stores.. as well as opening a new RH store in Canada later this fall. It's possible that some of the changes got kicked to the curb when it came to BH, but they aren't going under, not that I know of at least.
