This area is not really a shopper's wonderland, although Hickory and High Point are a few hours away and the Mitchell Gold outlet has really great deals.

i would say well over half the furniture in my house is from this flea market. like the mid century sideboard for i think $60 and the old bench with handmade nails for $25. i got an old watercolored map of the james river from the 1800s there the other day for $90. this place helped me make the not so easy adjustment to living in raleigh and is a must see for anyone visiting.

i live in chicago, but my parents live pretty close to here. i have been there, and while unable to haul many mid-century furniture finds back in my overhead bin; i was most impressed by the availability of boiled peanuts here! i'm serious. i bought them because i wanted to see what the hell a boiled peanut must taste like, but i left wishing that this hillbilly delicacy would find it's way to my metropolis.
