Spring Trend: Butterflies

05-17_butterflypost_LR.gif

From chrysalis to spring flight, butterflies are all grown up-for the home this year. We're excited to see butterflies done in a classy fashion — elegant and graceful like the delightful insect itself. To avoid being too cutesy, butterflies are done best on clean backgrounds, such as white fabric, or in small groupings, such as one or two per mug. Of course, a cluster of butterflies on a piece of art could have the same effect on a bare, white wall.

I covered my ugly beige refrigerator in white contact paper and then put butterly stickers all over it for a fun look!

At first I thought, oh no, not butterflies again. That was definitely overdone in the late nineties. But then I saw that duvet cover, and I think I might be convinced.

Butterflies are the new pirates.

I think butterflies are a beautiful motif, but should be done with tasteful moderation. (And they are the new dragonflies, not the new pirates, silly person!)

Love. Unseeneclipse, I love that idea. I think my landlord would freak if I did that. Perhaps some butterfly curtains would suffice instead...
