We heard a rumor that CB2 is looking to open a store on 14tth Street, near the future Room and Board (see our post It's Official: Room & Board Coming to 14th and T Streets). How do you feel about CB2 coming to DC? Would you shop at a CB2 store on 14th Street? Survey and more info below the jump...

CB2 is rumored to be interested in the planned office-retail project at 1350 R Street NW. CB2 apparently also looked at the property in Adams Morgan, which currently houses Locolat Café, For the Greater Good clothing, And Beige (furniture store), Commonwealth clothing, Urban Escape spa, Stussy clothing, and Rita's Water Ice.

I would definitely window-shop there, at the very least. I shy away from buying major things (i.e. a couch) online because I want to feel the fabric/see the color/try it out before I buy. Depending on the delivery charges (or I can make a friend with a van/truck) I might buy something big. I might buy a clock/lamp/shower curtain if they have something I like, though the website rarely does.

Why *wouldn't* DC residents shop at CB2? This is a total dream come true. Stores like this one and Room Board are long overdue in Washington.

Doesn't Room & Board sponsor this site? Hmmm.

I answered Maybe because I'd be more likely to shop at the R St. location than in Adams Morgan.

I definitely want to see CB2's goods in the "flesh" As with Crate and Barrel, I like their pieces so much more in person than on their site.
So glad to know that both are coming to the DC area, but wish they would be in Maryland or VA with parking.

CB2 will do quite well in my former 'hood, along with Room and Board. I really like most of the inventory at R and B. I like just some of the inventory at CB2 - not too crazy about their quality. (I live near a Crate and Barrel outlet, which carries some CB2 items.)

I'm not sure why having a CB2 nearby could be a bad thing.

HOT HOT HOT! I live in Baltimore and would brave the dreaded 495 just to go there! :)

Visual- I agree, if they had put it in the suburbs, there would be PLENTY more shoppers.

Oooh, I would come into the district to that, though I agree, putting it some place like Tyson's or College Park would make more sense than downtown. Maybe they'll have a parking garage, we can only hope!

See, I think the store would be a welcome addition to 14th St. I also think this would be an excellent redevelopment plan for the street-deadening Central Union Mission building. But-- and maybe this says more about my own post-traumatic stress issues than anything else-- I would have some reservations about bringing merchandise into my home after it has been in a building that was recently a homeless shelter. Let's hope they gut the interior aggressively, because I don't know how much thought they'll put into chasing out bedbugs!
I thought they considered and rejected the Adams Morgan location some time ago. It is closer to me, but the scale of the building is more appropriate for the smaller (and very nice) businesses there currently.

what's so "hot or not" about this news?

Maybe CB2 isn't sure whether they're going to, so they're trying to find out whether there is any interest. My partner works in DC and has a small studio apartment there, and we actually bought something at CB2 for his place; we saw it at the San Francisco CB2 that's near the Hotel Palomar there. We got that big green-and-brown stretched-canvas print of trees in Central Park.

I was hoping for CB2 in Baltimore, but DC's good enough.

We drive from Va Beach to shop/hang out in DC, so I'd for sure pop in!

I am super super excited now. I have been getting the catalog since the store launched and have coveted many things but i'm always shy about too much catalog and online ordering..esp for furniture. But now I know I will be a definite shopper
