One of the many joys of house tours is getting to see original artwork of creative AT readers in their own homes. Kelly made the collages and took the photographs hanging in her living room (shown at left from House Tour: Crafy Kelly's Studio Apartment). Rose made the quilt hanging in her entryway (top right from House Tour: Rose's Self-Sufficient Solar Home and Garden). Did you or someone you know make the artwork hanging in your home? Survey and more original artwork from house tours below the jump...

In her basement, Rose has framed artwork made by her children (now adults) when they were younger.
Below are prints made by Ann when she was in art school and featured in her recent DC house tour Ann's Colorful, Treasure-Filled Apartment. The Elvis art hanging above her bed was made by her friend.

Shown below is Sondra and Ron's Dupont Dreamhome in which they have paintings by Sondra and their friends hanging all over their house.
As a visual artist, it's wonderful seeing how people incorporate art into their homes. What art do you have in your home? Share photos of the artwork hanging in your home in the flickr group "Apartment Therapy DC." You may see your home posted here on AT!

Yes, I own some Black and White photographs of Italy that a neighbor sold several years ago at an Open Studio.
I also own several prints by Captain Stephen Card whom I met aboard the inaugural cruise of the Noordam back in 2006...

...but I also have lots of vintage impressionist art that I've picked up off eBay over the years, and a vintage C Jere sailboat sculpture that I found on Craigslist (I paid $250 and have seen the same one on 1stdibs for over $1000!)

I've made a lot of my art, and I also have a bunch of sketches my mom did.

All of the photographs in my home were taken by either myself, or my dad. The black and white ones were processed at home in the darkroom. Colour ones were done for cheap at the photo lab I used to work at.
I have some modern art posters from the Albright Knox gallery in Buffalo, but besides that, all other artwork is pieces I've taked from my dad's highschool portfolio.
He always wanted to be an artist, but in the 60's his father said it wasn't a career for a man. So he became an architectural technologist instead.
Sketches by my dad are hidden in things all over my parent's house. Always on random scraps of paper.

I just wrote about the giant collages that we made when we were poor students. We have one left, and I'm totally attched to it.

I have a couple of very large charcoals I did in our dining room and our playroom has a ever changing gallery of artworks the kids made.

At home, we have photos taken by me and my dad. I also have posters from conferences where I worked as an interpreter and a poster I brought back from a trip to Istanbul

I work at a university, and have purchased most of my artwork from the senior shows of our art students. It's a great way to get original art at a reasonable price, and it helps them pay for their materials.

I don't have any pictures at the moment, but I did a small 6x6 inch colored-sand-on-cardstock that looks like a blue sky that I have mounted in my room, plus two other items I created on foam core (they're easy to hang!). I'm currently working on a piece with light modeling clay and craypas to put near my closet.
My mother has always had needlepoint that she's done hanging in our house, including an intricate crewel piece over our mantle, which is unfortunately done in very 70s-ish browns. We have a free-hand cross-stitch sampler my great-grandmother created hanging in our living room.
I created a small framed zombie-related cross-stitch I made for my brother that is displayed in his room, and I have two stitched items of my own I want to get framed but haven't.
The nice thing about making your own 'art' is that you like it, you own it and you can pitch it or swap it out when you're tired of it with no guilt!

Yes, I have several of my own works hanging in the house (and basement, and garage, my degree is in painting so there are a lot of them!), as well as weavings and mosaics I have done.
All the other ones (not mine) are pieces we have picked up at art fairs and shows and galleries over the years. When we could start affording it, we moved from posters to original works (paintings, prints, sculptures, pottery), and we still love them all. We like supporting other artists too.

The first two answers both apply for me -- I made quite a few of the sewn things in my place, and woven ones from when I was in elementary school and had a fun loom:

My maternal grandmother gave me a couple paintings, of which this rose was done especially for me:

And I have some needlepoint work that was done by my twice-paternal great-grandmother, as well as crocheted and knitted things done by my maternal grandmother and her mother (my twice-maternal great-grandmother).

My husband is an artist, so pretty much everything is made by him or was a swap with someone we know. We have a lot more in storage. Wish I had more walls

I have both my work and work I've picked up at student shows, art fairs, etsy and from trades with other artist friends.

I made a lot of the artwork in my home, but not all of it. As an artist I traded a lot of my work with other artists I know.

im kind of against putting anything on my walls that is a reproduction of anyones art. originals only, please.. not in a snotty way. i just like the added textures.

About 95% of the art in my place is either mine or my brothers. There are a few original pieces that came from others, but I think it's nicer to have that personal connection to items that I see everyday.
I just wish that I had more walls so that I could have more up!

I also have one of my photos blown up and framed.

I'm very hesitant to put up my work. mostly because I constantly critique it, but also because I don't want to create a shrine to myself. friends are always surprised, though, when they come over and find that the originals I have up were not made by me. they wonder why I pay for art when I could make it myself, but I prefer the variety.
I did, however, joke that I would cover my walls with a series of very large self-portraits that I made and bring dates over and creep them out...

A medley of myself and my other half. It's unique and oh so special!

I've made some of it myself. My 22 year old illustrator daughter has contributed several pieces. My watercolorist mother-in-law is well represented as well. I figure if you've got any artistic ability at all there's little to no excuse for mass produced "like forever" posters, and their ilk. If you make it yourself, or know the artist, there is so much more meaning.

About three quarters of the artwork in my flat are original photographs taken by either my husband or my brother-in-law.
http://www.maistyle.asia/photography/Oliver-Cully.html

The rest are bits and pieces picked up on our extensive travels, and in a small flat, the best way to display is on the walls!

I only have my own artwork hanging up. It helps for retrospection but also feels slightly neurotic :/

I made some, I also have a photograph my brother took (as art, the snapshots of his kids don't count). I also have the Picasso and the Van Gogh. Which aren't real, but it's a funny little gallery near the bathroom for my own amusement. I probably should get more and definitely need to make more.

Mine is pretty much all pictures I've taken, mostly nature. Cheap is one reason I use my pics. They also bring back memories. Above my couch is a collection of flower pictures I've taken as I've traveled, so they remind me of the place without being totally obvious.

A few pieces of mine, a number of things made by other members of the artist's co-op I used to belong to, and a bunch of orginal works that I got at flea markets or thrift shops where I don't know the artists, but enjoy having their unique things anyhow.

My sister had needlework made by three generations of women in our family on her wall. When she died, my daughter hung them in her room and added one of her own.
