Local DC interior designer Darryl Carter just launched his new line of furniture for Thomasville. The look is called the "new traditional." We love that Darryl Carter is a former DC lawyer (like many of us in DC!) and switched from law to interior design. More info and photos below the jump...

Darryl Carter started designing homes while practicing law and focused on design after his own home was featured on the cover of Metropolitan Home. We like the canopy bed in his collection (one of our latest obsessions). And we LOVE his story (leaving the law for design), though admit that most of his pieces are too traditional for our home. What do you think of Darryl Carter's new furniture line?

I like his style. I don't have that much restraint when it comes to sticking with neutrals, but the pictures of his designs are very calming.

I like it too - It's nice to see traditional forms coming back into style, but not in a froo-froo Little-Old-Lady way.

LOVE Darryl Carter. His own interior work (as opposed to the furniture collection) is a bit more spare and eclectic, in a very good way.
I still remember his break-out cover of Met Home that basically launched his design career.
And mark my words... if the Obamas make it to the White House, expect Darryl to be tapped as the official presidential designer.
