Do you love the look of wood but not the upkeep and the environmental concerns? We love the way this outdoor pool surround blends so well with the natural elements of this yard without creating the extra work that true wood decking would require to stay looking so good in this wet environment...

These Urban Timber porcelain tiles from Mission Stone and Tile in Nashville TN are designed to work both inside and out. They come in four finish stains and two sizes (6" x 24" and 6" x 35").
Has anyone seen these tiles in person? If so, we would love to hear more about them as an alternative to genuine wood flooring...
It looks really nice. We are ordering a sample now to see how it looks.
We have a few other "wood" porcelain tiles and they all look really cool.

Is there a texture to it, or is it a photo-decal type of thing? If it's textured, I'd love to see the porcelain "planks" in different specific stone textures.

The new Matchbox restaurant on 8th street has a very similar "wood-esque" tile floor on the main level and in the bar area. It looks great, in my opinion.

it looks really nice, but i would worry about putting porcelain tiles around a pool just because they would get slippery and little kids like to run around a pool despite the risks.

Hey all! This porcelain tile is the most authentic wood tile yet. It does not have a decal or screen print look glaze on it. It is very textured and has a great weathered/reclaimed wood look. It's the perfect solution for wet areas because it is not slippery. With real wood, there is the worry of warping and continual maintenance. With Urban Timber, you have none of those worries!

This product is FABULOUS! NO worries about slipping--it was made for outdoors. It is a through body porcelain, made to sustain wear and tear. There is real texture to the product.
Also---it is GREEN FRIENDLY--- no trees were harmed in the production of this material =)

Ain't it kinda like formica with a wood print, margerine on a fresh Parisian croisant, Dolly Parton's wigs, or plastic "mansard" roofs on a fast food joint?
Such wonderful things can be done with ceramics. Why fake?

agree with nani. This has a bad 70s feel to it.

I saw it in person at a tile store seveal months ago and was so taken with it I still think about it, it is actually very beautiful (I thought) and doesn't come off as fake-y. It would be awesome in a high-humidity application where a more natural vibe is desired...like a zen sort of bathroom with some pebble tile or in my fantasy tropical island home...
It might be a little too much on a large expanse as shown, but I think it would be beautiful in an entry, bathroom or small kitchen.
