Gas Mask Shower Head

gasmask.jpg
The Gas Mask Shower Head is the scariest design we've come across this Halloween. Designed by Chris Dimino, the gas mask's eye holes can be used as soap dishes. Would this scare you in the shower?

Imagine, first thing in the morning, still half asleep, you go stumbling into the shower and see this - ummm . . . hell yeah!

I wouldn't be able to take a shower without thinking of the holocaust. Not a good way to start any day.

The most disturbing part is that the face part looks like it's coming through the tile. If the whole thing were chrome or whatever, it would still be disturbing, but not quite as much. Either way... do not want.

Awesome. I'd love to have this... my five-year-old? He'd probably pass on it.

You people haven't heard of Auschwitz Chic? It is all the rage. Like shabby chic, but edgier. I'm all for creative reuse, but this is just disturbing.

Having just gone through two bathroom renos, my first thought was "how did they mold those tiles to look like they're coming through the wall tiles". My second thought was that this will not look so good when they decide to change the shower head to a rain shower head.

The gas mask is just a silly "look at my unnecessary art project" thing. For the purpose of having water come out of something and compartments for storage, you can have an elephant head, Mickey Mouse, broccoli or whatever is not shaped like a shower head and has parts that lend themselves to the function.

Disturbing and Ugly.

Why does every "artist" think that modern art can't be pretty or at least comforting anymore?

Wow! That made me sit up straight at my computer. The gas mask is definitely one of the creepiest images around. I like my showers a little less traumatizing.

Yeah if this was permanently in a haunted house or hotel or something it is a great idea, but for someone's home, FRIGHTENING!! I have a hard enough time seeing in the shower in the morning anyway because I wear contacts, out of the corner of my eye this would terrify me probably every morning.

Very, very disturbing. I'm not even sure this falls into the 'haunted house' category - more like H. R. Giger. Original idea though.

I really don't think contemporary art needs to be pretty or comforting. There's plenty of soothing traditional art that will complement your couch and throw pillows and which won't provoke any strong reactions.

That said, I find this disturbing, not so much for the gas chamber reference, but the way the face is pressing through the wall and the empty eye sockets used to hold innocuous things like a nail brush and mini bottle of shampoo. Strange how unsettling the little details are.

While I adore gas masks (I own two Russian ones very similar to this), this is quite disturbing. I like it though, but it would not work well with my existing irrational fears of what could be lurking in showers.

Awesome. Realistically, I think I would be too used to it to get scared but I can't say the same for any guests I may have. Wouldn't want someone to be startled and slip in my shower. And functionally, I would hate trying to clean out those eye sockets. But totally awesome! Love the look of something trying to come out of the wall to get me! So cool!

I agree that it's well-crafted, actually.

I also agree that the holocaust reference is disturbing.

But most of all, it's scary as heck. I'd be freaked out every time I took a shower.

Do they also make lynch themed shower heads with nooses hanging from tree branches? The Jew in me thinks this designer, and the AT editor who posted this, need a history lesson. Are you guys going to do an Aryan Nation apartment tour next?
