De La Espada

Since there is so much MDF, veneered, or "disposable" furniture in the market, it's so refreshing when you come across a piece that is made of actual solid wood. De La Espada is a company that has been around for over 10 years. Their factory is just outside of Madrid, and they opened their first flagship store in London, in 1996. With another store in New York, they have now decided to open another one and lucky for us Angelenos, they chose to locate it in West Hollywood. De La Espada likes to describe their designs as "warm modernism", and we think that's the perfect description. The pieces are all simple and clean-lined. The warmth of the wood makes it inviting and timeless, and the quality of the craftsmanship gives them a feeling of tradition.

They use only premium grade black walnut and white oak from sustainable forests in the US. The pricing is obviously not going to be like IKEA, but if you are looking at investing in a quality product that will last for generations, De La Espada is definitely worth a visit. Check out their new showroom (located on Melrose at La Cienega) or visit the website to see their extensive collection, as well as current pricing.
