Name: Dean (2)
Location: New Jersey
Dean's room is a mix of old and new, DIYs, and a few splurges. I didn't want his room to be defined by any style so that it could easily grow with him. Since it is eclectic, toys and decor can easily transition in and out over time. I pulled most of the colors from the US map poster, but didn't adhere to it too strictly. What we ended up with is a somewhat traditional room with lots of hidden stories and history.
My favorite pieces include the River City Junction sign which was a relic from my husband's high school theater days. I think he was surprised to find I had put it up on a wall rather than in a dumpster. I especially love the alphabet needlepoint that was in my nursery when I was a child.
The crib was a gift and the dressers and rocker were Craigslist finds that my uncle generously had refinished and reupholstered for us. The taller dresser includes much needed hanging space as this room has no closets (the only closet had been converted to a staircase for the finished attic).
I made the curtains myself and painted a curbside find rocking horse to match. The small Persian mat is a hand-me-down from my family who used to be in the rug business.
