Serving drinks for holiday guests?
We really love this decanter, from Iittala's Grcic glassware collection, by Konstantin Grcic - if you can find it: Iittala has discontinued production of the line. The decanter is a minimalist design that looks like two Grcic glasses superimposed on one another.
Equally elegant and sure to be a classic: Iittala's Decanter designed by Antonio Citterio and Toan Nguyen.

I have the Citterio decanter and wine glasses. The decanter is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't resist it after outfitting my bathroom with Hansgrohe Citterio products.
Though I got mine at a local store, its easily available from Amazon.com.
I love glass decanters.
Good old IKEA usually has these great for the price ($5) ones around Christmas.
Makes an impressive affordable gift.
I use 1 for decanting tap water.
Following Teonyc's comment, I googled the mikasa wine "glasses" make of unbreakable "kwarx". My question for the science folk: is this kwarx material glass, or not?
The descriptions I've read never say what the stuff actually is, but notably, they do not call it glass. Could it just be really shiny hard unrecyclable plastic? yikes.
