This looks every bit like grandma's old easy chair, right down to the doily on the backrest. But look again. Something's not right here. Or is everything right?
Just as his website is entitled Design & Rethink, Hannes Grebin has deconstructed the cozy old chair and turned it into a form more akin to a Rem Koolhaus building. He re-thought other typical furnishings, too, like a rug, sofa, and cabinet. Check out Hannes Grebin Design & Rethink to see the complete collection.

I like the "original" wing-chair better.
More like Destroyed.....
Sometimes, just because you can doesn't mean you should...
Hideous.
Deconstructed?? No. That is cubism in 3-D, which is very cool because it challenges perspective in a whole new way. But that is not deconstruction.
A deconstructed wing chair would be a modernist seat designed Hans Wegner.
what the duck?? if this is 'modern style' then consider me the un-hippest frump to have ever graced these comment sections.
I truly hope this is just an artistic piece and that someone wouldn't truly have this monstrosity in a home.
awesome
why would we do this? ....
Kill it with Fire
That thing is almost as freak-of-nature ugly as Matt Smith.
I love it! Would've preferred a different fabric, but still it's a great exploration of form.
Wow! Such... hatred in the comments.
While I wouldn't actually want it in my living room, I really do kind of love the idea. "At least it's interesting!"
What the fug??
Ick. On every level.
No thanks. I don't find it especially interesting; verges too far into pointless for me. At least the antimacassar is where it should be...?
It looks like an alien grandma chair that has come down to kill you.
What's with all the hatred? You people don't seem to get it. It's a concept, a study, a rethinking, a reinterpretation of an existing object so utterly omnipotent that we don't even see it anymore. This project made me smile, and I deeply respect that.
@jesusskateboarding
Uh, with the chair-lust the average AT-er exhibits, I am pretty sure most of us still sees and appreciates the wing chair just fine as it is. I'm glad this is value added for you, but just because we don't appreciate it doesn't mean we don't "get it".
It almost seems like it's reaching out to attack someone!
It's worth checking out Grebin's website. I kind of love the doily urinal screen.
It's not a doily on the backrest - it's an antimacassar.
@jesusskateboarding
omnipotent= all-powerful = me like this--> o.0?
maybe omnipresent or ubiquitous was the word ya wanted. But if this chair in either form really was ubiquitous I would pack up and move somewhere else
@faelix
It is an antimacassar, but i'm not certain that that means it is not a doily....
lighten up you dorks, it's art.
