Q: My husband and I each have children from previous marriages who we're bringing up in a split-level house in California. The kids, 3 boys and 3 girls share a Jack & Jill style bathroom adjoining their bedrooms. The problem? The girls love pink and florals and the boys are into blue and wood paneling. I need decorating ideas to please them both. Help, Ohdeedoh!

I'm picturing something with a Hawaiian/surf feel to it - wood paneling with blue hawaiian style floral accents. Or, something really neutral like bold colored stripes...
Carol, as in Carol Brady?? ;)
I'd say to ask Alice.
Whatever you do, don't let Marcia decide. It's always about Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
Maybe find an available architect for cheap, who could ADD ANOTHER BATHROOM?
Just sayin'.
hmr - I like your idea. I'm an interior designer and we did this just recently for a client. We split a large bathroom (with tub) into two smaller bathrooms (with showers). It worked great, and the client was thrilled... but it wasn't cheap!!!
We have two boys and 2 girls sharing a bath. We're thinking of this whale wall paper in the gray & cream: http://www.pottokprints.com/whales.html
and these green lights hang over the two mirrors:

We have round gray bath mats and Ikea trash cans in green for each child's stuff.
I think the Land of Nod bathrooms are really cute and not terribly young-looking.
Orange!
I’d give the room an energetic base color, and then let the kids’ have their own towels and accessory caddies to store their personal stuff in. (Which hopefully will also help keep down the clutter in the shared space!)
Add pink or purple and they work well for flowery towels, toothbrushes, etc for the girls.
Add blue or green and they work well for stripes, classic truck colors, etc for the boys’ stuff.
I had the same problem, we share our tiny old bathroom with our toddler girls, and didn't want my husband getting incomfortable in his own house, rented house. I found like flicker 237 suggested some Hawaiin/surf stickers, with pink and green flowers, waves, beach animals, palm trees, and little personages surfing, scuba-diving, or suntanning. It's a perfect fit with our ugly yellow, sand color yellow counter and the ugly gravel beige flooring. =)
well done, Carrie.
Nice April Fool's joke!
lol
Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.
Here's the store, of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own,
They were four men, living all together,
Yet they were all alone.
got caught, too young, and not americain, should have google the second comment name.
