While many companies have a signature color, magazines are attainable and feel much less showy than, oh, say, an Hermès box. Nevertheless, Erin is still in high-class company in her use of old Nat Geos as a colorful accent. Here, find examples from Elle Decor, the Hampton Designer Showhouse, and fashion designer Rachel Roy's home.

LOL, It's so hard to let go of old issues, good thing they're a pretty color!
Oh man, when I was a kid we had an entire roomful (unfinished master bath space) of huge stacks of National Geographic magazines. Some of them were taller than me, and I used to like to go in there and grab a random copy to look at. My Dad had been hoarding them since he himself was a teenager, so we're talking maybe 30 years' worth of magazines before he finally decided my parents needed a master bath. My mom got him to pare his collection down to one shelf and we donated boxes and boxes of magazines to the library.
What a lovely new perspective!
I used to cut out the pictures to make cards or collages.
My husband just sent our scientist-daughter a subscription to Nat'l Geo. I told him he could have saved the money by going to a garage sale and buying a box of them for a buck.
@mjs7640 - for newer issues, try the local libray. I used to donate my old issues to the library. I'm probably going to start keeping them (cause I love them stacked on the credenza).
I still like the subscription, though. You can get a box of them for a dollar, but they might not be recent issues.
My grandparents had NGs dating all the way back to 1954, I think. My parents inherited them and had a whole bookshelf full! Not sure where they ended up after the move.
Great color addition to any room..have a ton of these in family and living room. Grew up with NG mags.
Does it count to have a collection of "XYZ for Dummies" books? They're bright yellow, too! haha
