It's common knowledge that Jonathan Adler has a very unique eye for design. He's not afraid to take risks and show his personality no matter who the client. He's most known for his bright colors but I'm intrigued by his never ending use of gold.
Reclaimed wood is a rather big deal right now and most of us would think that the wood itself is enough of a statement, but Adler? No. He takes reclaimed wood to the next level and paints it gold, maybe just because he can or maybe to pick up the gold accents from the four poster bed.
Hand chairs are self explanatory and it typically takes a pretty bold individual to have them in their home, even in the most subdued color. Gold hand chairs take the look to the ultimate level — it's so funky that it just works. Of course, Jonathan can do gold subdued as well. Maybe adding a gold mirror to an all pink room could be considered subdued for Adler — you're certainly not going to find too many all white rooms.
What do you think of decorating with gold?

Eek, the gold hands don't work for me at all. They just look tacky.
Hate the hand chairs!!!!?
big fan of his, but I'm not liking the gold hands...I kind of hate hand chairs in general though...
No to the hand chairs, but yes to that gold mirror in #5.
Those hand chairs are the bomb diggity!! Jonathan Adler is an amazing designer. Saw him at an Apartment Therapy meet-up and he blew my mind with his whimsical and interesting approach to design. So so inspiring.
I like the hand chairs and the gold.
I like decorating with gold, it tends to go well with a lot of colors and styles. I've heard people call gold trashy, old lady, gaudy. but to each their own. I love the warm shine of it.
I think the hand chairs are funny and I like JA, but something in that room is lacking for me. However, I LOVE the house he did for Liz Lange.
Love everything in pic 2. That bed makes me swoon...
yikes to the hand chairs...they don't look so comfortable either. i am sure if i brought one of those to my house, my friends will be like, what the heck??
Those chairs are delightful. Then again, John Adler is always delightful.
I really want a pink room like #5! (minus the owl)
<3 the Hand Chairs!!
I love the look of gold, used sparingly, of course. I think it adds a bit of glam and warmth, and it's much better than the sterile all chrome look.
I think JA inspired me to use gold accents - I'd always used silver/chrome. What I love about his design is his sense of humor - there's always something that really tickles me - that says he doesn't take himself too seriously - whether it's color or pattern or scale or hand chairs or a profile-shaped sofa w/ head pillows. But it all works together great, I think.
The hand chairs must be on loan from Golden Buddha himself.
Love JA and the gold accents, but I think the hand charis are hilarious.
Gold is definitely the new silver and I'm loving it.
I ususally like hands, but those chairs just give me the willies!
The hand chairs are awesome. They are my dream art/furniture piece and I would like to thank Jonathan Adler for using them in his home where I was first made aware of them 3 or so years ago. Pedro Friedeberg rocks!
I love all things JA and all things metallic. The hand chairs aren't my style but all the other rooms are FABULOUS. I covet the lucite bed and I love mixing silver, gold, lucite, mirror, lacquer for a room that sparkles. I have a small accent table with reclaimed wood legs I was about to sell, glad to find this article as it has inspired me to paint it gold instead.
