For those of you who know Toronto-based Om Home's collections of colorfully patterned linens, bedding, pillows and more, the painted designs in this home may look familiar. Before relocating to Toronto, this was the Montreal home of Om Home creator, textile designer Oorbee Roy...
The black-and-white entry up top was kept color-neutral to allow for the bold colors throughout the rest of the house.
The bathroom ceiling was an early project in the house, "a way to mark my new territory", says Oorbee. OM Home patterns are even painted onto the bathroom vanity! We love how these patterns seem to open up both small rooms, by drawing the eye around the entire space.

Yikes, way too cutesy for me.
As a former scenic artist, I am very wary of decorative painting. It is hard to walk the fine, fine line between grandma's wrapping paper on the wall and good taste. It can certainly be done, but often isn't. I like the bold statements of the images above, but it has to be carefully considered with your lifestyle and other furnishings.
Never ever sponge paint or use stenciled borders! I have yet to see it done in a modern and attractive way.
hmm... I like it, but not for me. it's unique which is good, but wouldn't leave a lot of other options for decorating or adding to the room.

Anyone know where I can get a black chandelier like the one in the first picture?!
Thank you for posting this Regina.
Christina, I bought the chandelier from Urban Outfitters!
Warm Regards,
Oorbee
Hi there! I am absolutely CRAZY about the design of this ceiling. I've been googling all night to try to find the stencil for this design with no luck. Where can I get it or achieve this look? I'm dying to do it in my new home we just purchased!!
