When my husband and I found out we were having a baby we were both excited and overwhelmed! We knew that the room that would become our future nursery was a HUGE project.
Due to a leaky roof, it smelled like mildew and needed new drywall, windows and lighting. Thankfully, between the two of us we make a pretty good team, as he is an engineer and I'm an art teacher.
I started designing the very day we found out we were having a girl. I knew I didn't want any particular theme, and it is important to me that this little girl has a room that will grow with her. I had been spending a lot of time on the Urban Outfitters websitem and the quilt in the nursery caught my eye. I love all of the colors and patterns incorporated in it.
After months of drywalling and installing new windows we finally got to the fun stuff! I had originally wanted to put up wallpaper but soon realized it was outside our budget. Instead I opted for a wall stencil from Whitewall & Co. The chair was a little gem I found for $30 on Craigslist. I sewed a slipcover for it, and my husband made it into a rocking chair by attaching a rocking mechanism to the bottom. The dresser was another DIY project that I finished with paint and scrap paper. Originally there was a niche in the wall on the left side of our chimney. I sketched up a plan for shelves and my husband built them as a "backboard" for the bed. After eight months of work and lots of DIY projects our nursery is finally finished and ready for our baby girl to come home!
Thanks, Danielle!

I love it! Obviously you put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this room and it has paid off. I love the whimsical feel and the bright colors. I would think that any child couldn't help but be happy with this room!
luv it!
The built in shelves are genius! I love seeing a child's room functional : )
The built in's are fantastic and the framed cat and dog photos made me giggle, so cute and funny.
What an amazing room! Great job.
Love that owl lamp! Do you have a source for it? Thank you!
What a fun space! Where is the mobile from?
Thanks everyone! The dog and cat prints are by Heather Mattoon and the owl lamp is from Home Goods. I made the mobile, but got the pattern off of http://craftschmaft.com
