When we found out we were having a boy, I knew we had to do a baseball themed nursery. My husband hails from Long Island, and being a lifelong, diehard Yankees fan, no other theme would do.
At first, I was nervous about my ability to create a space I would be satisfied with since I have no allegiance to or knowledge of baseball. I did know one thing: I wanted the room to be boyish and youthful, but not babyish. Once we found the "ABC Yankees" print hanging above our glider, though, everything just fell into place.
I chose to use general baseball-themed artwork and details while pulling in the Yankees inspiration through colors -- the gray on the walls and the white and blue color theme throughout. I wanted decorative items that would last well into his toddler years, and furniture and a color scheme that would work with other themes should he want to switch gears later on.
